Biography - Roberto Lombana Sanclemente, Bogotá, 1977

Roberto Lombana Sanclementeborn in Bogotá in 1977, he is a moving body, an explorer of the perception that from his youth seeks to inhabit and understand the world through the image. Its formative process has been marked by a convergence of disciplines: photography, painting and graphic arts.

In 2007, a daily event in New York —leave with an 8 mm fish eye lens— it became its turning point, an invitation to transform urban perception, to resize the daily and to make it a mirror of resonance and orderly chaos. Since then, his gaze has followed the same line, and in 2019, he raised his field of vision with a drone, opening up new dimensions and moving landscapes, where the earth and air are united in his work.

Its series form a map of concerns and reflections: "Mandalas," conceived from terraces that reveal civilizations of perfect symmetries, or "Place No Place," where meters in transit, empty and silent, seem suspended in time, reflecting the city through an aesthetics that oscillates between shape and coloring. In 2015, the Amazon brought it to the heart of a vital nature, arousing a deep link with a world in balance, alive and in constant transformation.

Its transit does not stop at the borders of Colombia. His travels throughout Colombia have generated the series "Colombia... Naturally" and "Colombia Dorada," visual testimonies that expose a land that is offered and revealed in each image, paying tribute to our greatest heritage: nature. The most recent series, focused on rivers, is a reminder of the invisible forces that unite territories, cultures and memories, seeking to decipher those more than a thousand highways of biodiversity and culture that secretly run through Colombia.

Lombana does not complete its series, fragmentates them, breaks them into themes, perspectives and forms. It has a law that governs its work: capture the circle, perspective, geometry, and movement. An obsession that not only defines its technique but reveals the concern of an artist who seeks to understand the invisible structure of the world.

He is a traveller of the twenty-first century, a nomad of the image in a constant flow of time and space, always in transit, always with his camera and sensitivity ready to catch at the right moment what the world reveals in his deepest secret. Lombana continues to walk, explore, observe because he understands that in every look, in every gesture, he beats a fundamental truth that only those who move with the soul can grasp in perpetual discovery.

His formative process has been marked by a convergence of disciplines: photography, painting and graphic arts, in which the works of teachers such as Antonio Canaletto, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Leonardo DaVinci, Julio Le Parc, M.C. Escher, Victor Vasarly, Joan Foncuberta, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Eugene Adget, Man Ray, David Hockney, Juan Cárdenas, Richard Estes, Fernando Botero, and publications such as Thracher and Transworld, together with the school of photographer Javier Sandoval, were relented to build their visual and conceptual universe.

Biography - Roberto Lombana Sanclemente, Bogoptá, 1977

My name is Roberto Lombana SanClemente, born in Bogotá, Colombia, on March 8, 1977. Since I was young I have been involved in the world of art, photography, drawing, painting, classical engraving and visiting museums with my maternal grandparents. In May 2007 I left the BH Photovideo store in New York and looked through an 8 mm fish eye sigma lens and my life changed forever!

I dedicate myself to creating aesthetic experiences from photography from the Amazon to Tokyo because "The world is my study". My purpose is to create works that act as windows to "places of inspiration," spaces where energy is reconfigured and the stories I have with my images seek to resonate in those who inhabit those places. My intention is to transform the atmosphere through my work, to invite happiness and thus to contribute to making the human beings that occupy them better within.

Since 2021 I have worked with the Saving The Amazon Foundation and every time I sell a work to a percentage for a member of an indigenous community to siembre a tree and thus create a forest in the Amazon with  the names of my buyers.

One of my greatest artistic achievements is to be the winner of an honor mention in version 77 of Japan's International Photography Hall in 2017. He also participated in national and international exhibitions.

Today, I have an exhibition at the International Airport "El Dorado" in Bogotá, entitled Colombia... naturally. Through large-format photographs printed on pear canvas, forests and rivers, I invite national and foreign tourists to recognize and value our greatest treasure: nature.

I have collaborated with recognized companies in Colombia, such as Crepes & Waffles, the Trade Exchange and El Dorado International Airport, creating projects that improve the experience of their spaces. Many people also take my works to their homes in different countries and, thanks to a close relationship, develop tailor-made parts according to the space, size and theme they require, thus achieving unique and special environments.
